LTA, MyHSR to issue joint tender for HSR project

The LTA and MyHSR will call for a joint tender today (22 August) to appoint a Joint Development Partner to assist in the development of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore HSR project.

The KL-Singapore HSR is set to open in 2026.

Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Malaysia’s MyHSR will call for a joint tender today (22 August) to appoint a Joint Development Partner (JDP) to assist in the development of the Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High Speed Rail (HSR) project.

In a joint statement issued on Friday, LTA and MyHSR said the JDP is expected to provide project management support, technical advice and procurement advice relating to the HSR systems and operations.

“It will also develop the technical and safety standards to be adopted for the project,” said the release.

Furthermore, the JDP will also assist the joint project team established between Singapore and Malaysia to prepare documents for forthcoming tenders. The tender is open to companies who have advised on large public and private partnership infrastructure projects, including HSR projects of similar size and complexity.

It is also open to companies with experience in providing project management, as well as technical, commercial or legal advisory services relating to HSR and other rail projects involving more than 200km of track.

Spanning 350km, the HSR project is expected to cut travel time between the two cities to just 90 minutes. The HSR line will have eight stops in total — Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Seremban, Ayer Keroh, Muar, Batu Pahat, Iskandar Puteri and Singapore.

Construction works for the project are to last from 2018 to 2025, with the HSR line expected to be in operation in 2026.
