Construction work on three MRT stations on the Thomson Line are set to get underway this quarter, as part of $1.15 billion in contracts awarded by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) for the Thomson and Eastern Region Lines.

The contracts involve the construction of Mount Pleasant, Stevens and Maxwell stations, as well as the communications system, signalling system and platform screen doors for the two MRT Lines.

When completed, the 30-km Thomson Line will comprise 22 stations, including six interchange stations. Fully underground, the line will help enhance connectivity from Woodlands to the central business district and Marina Bay, as well as shorten travel time for commuters.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Region Line will run together with the Thomson Line as one line.

More details on the Eastern Region Line will be revealed at a later date, added LTA.
