Jadon Sancho has returned to Manchester United training after a recent bout of tonsilitis.

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick had ruled the England international out of the rest of the season, although Sancho was put through his paces alongside Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw ahead of Sunday’s trip to Crystal Palace.

While incoming boss Erik Ten Hag has ended his Ajax contract six weeks early, the Dutchman will not take charge of the team for the final game of what has been a miserable campaign.

Rangnick will oversee his last match as Manchester United manager before moving into a consultancy role, a job he will balance alongside coaching the Austrian national team.

Sancho has missed United’s last three games, while Rashford sat out of the loss away at Brighton with bronchitis. Shaw, meanwhile, has not played since a 1-1 draw with Leicester last month.

Elsewhere, Edinson Cavani is expected to be available for a game in which many United players will be saying goodbye before a major summer rebuild.
