All-Inclusive Holiday Packages: Are They Really A Better Deal?

This article was originally on GET.com at: All-Inclusive Holiday Packages: Are They Really A Better Deal?

Have you ever purchased an all-inclusive travel package in Singapore? Like everything in life, there are pros and cons to all-inclusives. Sure, they may make a bigger dent in your wallet but it could be your saviour when all you need is to get out of the country ASAP.

Below, we at GET.com share with you our views on whether these all-inclusive holiday packages are truly the solution for you for a meaningful vacation away in some wondrous destination on planet Earth.

Are All-Inclusive Holiday Packages Really A Better Deal?

1. Yes: You Value Convenience A Lot

With all-inclusive holiday packages, all you have to do is turn up for your flight (or cruise ride/train ride/bus ride), sit back and enjoy all the activities and meals that have been planned out for you.

It is really convenient if you are time-strapped and you simply don't have time to spend hours on end researching and sifting through all the nitty gritty details, scouring for the best deals out there and calculating how much each part of your travel itinerary is going to cost you, etc. After all, time is money.

2. Yes: You Like To Have Things Planned Out For You

Some holidaymakers prefer to have things sorted out and arranged for them so that they truly don't have to expend any energy planning and thinking about what to do during their well-deserved holiday. This is especially true for older travellers who may not be as technologically-savvy as younger people.

And if time is of essence and you are embarking on a last-minute leisurely trip abroad, going for all-inclusives can be a great thing for your well-being as you really don't have to sweat all the small details…like sourcing for accommodations, flight tickets, activities to participate in and more. This is precisely why travel agencies are still a relevant part of Singapore's tourism industry.

3. Yes: You Won't Bust Your Budget Unknowingly

For travellers who have always been super hands-on with plotting out their travel itineraries, all-inclusive holiday packages usually tell you the final price that you have to pay for your holiday, minus your own personal expenditure (think: how much foreign currency you will be using, how much credit card swiping action will occur, etc).

This just means that there is no price shock, and generally, even if tipping is required, if you've got a tour guide bringing you to places, that amount will be made known to you in advance.

4. Maybe: There Could Be Extra Perks That Otherwise Would Be Inaccessible

Personally, I have gone on a few all-inclusive holidays and I can tell you that your mileage really varies. Sometimes, the people whom you interact with whilst on holiday can make all the difference in whether you get to enjoy an amazing holiday that enriches your humble existence as a human being in this vast world or if it's just a 'meh' holiday that you wish you hadn't spent so much money on.

Want an example? The guide that my boyfriend and I interacted with during our fairly recent trip to Taiwan was amazing - not a slightest bit pushy and he shared so much about Taiwan's heritage and history with us in addition to taking us to the exact stalls at night markets that local Taiwanese swear by.

5. No: You Like To Snag The Cheapest Deals For Every Component Of Your Holiday

In all honesty, all-inclusive packages tend to be more costly than if you were to suss out cheap hotels and cheap flights yourself. The amount that you will be shelling out depends on how much of a budget traveller you are and whether you're travelling in peak or non-peak seasons.

But then again, it is worth noting that the majority of the time with all-inclusive holiday packages, you get to stay in better hotels than those that you might book yourself on a budget holiday.

6. No: You Prefer Having More Control Over Your Holiday

Be honest with yourself, if you know exactly where you want to visit, what you want to do or even what you want to eat at your holiday destination, you could be better off planning your own holiday and going free and easy.

Besides, you don't have to wake up at 6am everyday even though you aren't a morning person (ahem, that's me) because you get to decide how you spend your time and how long you want to snuggle under warm sheets.
