Home and Away star Sam Barrett has spoken about what the future may hold for Ari Parata and show newcomers Chloe and Mia Anderson.
Upcoming scenes on Channel 5 explore Ari's backstory as Sam's character Chloe arrives in Summer Bay to confront him after years apart. Chloe was once a stepdaughter figure to Ari (Rob Kipa-Williams), but was cut off from him when he was sent to prison years ago.
Ari's ex-partner Mia (Anna Samson) also arrives in the Bay when she learns where Chloe is, wanting to bring her daughter back home. However, with unfinished business between this once-happy family unit, Ari's girlfriend Mackenzie Booth starts to feel left out in the cold.
Speaking about the backstory of Chloe, Sam explained: "Chloe loves Ari. He's the only father figure she has ever known. He was like a dad to her growing up and they haven't seen each other for about ten years. This obviously carries hurt for the both of them – a lot of emotions unravel themselves as things go on.

"It was instantly devastating for Chloe when Ari left, as he was such a huge part of her life. She also lost Nikau and the Parata family from her life, which is something she had to deal with.
"Not having a father figure in her teens is possibly why she is so headstrong and resilient, but she never stopped longing for that connection to come back.
"At the time, Ari was her best friend. They did everything together. He taught her how to swim, ride a bike, even played Bratz dolls with her.
"He's been sorely missed in her life, and she wants answers as things have never quite added up for her about why he disappeared from her and Mia's lives all that time ago."

Once she's in the Bay next week, Chloe discovers that her mum Mia was ultimately responsible for cutting ties between them and Ari.
At the time, Mia didn't tell Chloe about Ari's imprisonment and instead let her believe that he'd simply walked out on them.
Discussing the fallout once the truth comes out, Sam continued: "Chloe does love her mum Mia so much. I think with any family, loyalty is a huge thing.
"Chloe is hurt and feels betrayed, as her and Mia have only ever had each other since Ari left. Honesty is very important to her. Mia will have to earn her trust again."

Sam also refused to rule out the possibility that Ari will ultimately reunite with Mia – just as Mackenzie starts to fear in future episodes.
She said: "I think Chloe loves Ari and Mia unconditionally. At the end of the day, she wants what is best for her family. If that means them getting back together, then she will support it. But it's Chloe and it won't come without her speaking her mind about how she feels along the way."
Home and Away airs weekdays at 1.15pm and 6pm on Channel 5 (UK), with first look screenings at 6.30pm on 5STAR. Selected classic episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video in the UK.
