Holly Willoughby believes the news series of Dancing on Ice is more important than ever in 2021 - and says as a parent, she's "grateful" for its return.

The This Morning presenter revealed she's looking forward to the show coming back as it's something she can watch with her whole family; husband Dan, and kids Belle, Harry and Chester. Plus, it'll (hopefully) lift all our spirits.

Speaking ahead of the series launch this Sunday (17 January), Holly explained:

"It's January - it's been rubbish, it's been horrible. We need a bit of escapism. Trying to find things to watch as a family, where we are all sitting around the telly is not that easy. Obviously, [there's] The Masked Singer - thank God for that. But it's really tricky to find those shows.

She also revealed her tip for the top - Myleene Klass.

"I think she's got musicality, because obviously she's a musician, she's a performer, and I just think she's going to fall in love with it. That's my little insider tip. Based on nothing, by the way!"

Her Dancing on Ice co-host Phillip Schofield admitted he thought the quality of skaters was better than in previous years, as thanks to Covid, there's not a lot else to do. Denise Van Outen, Rufus Hound, Rebekah Vardy and Jason Donovan are among the celebrities taking part in this series.

He said: "I think we're very lucky this year in the calibre of skaters that we've got. I think we've got more very good skaters than we've probably ever had before, because a lot of people would have been off doing other things, and this is the only show around. So they thought, well, I could I could do that."

Dancing on Ice begins on Sunday 17 January at 6pm on ITV
