Holby City spoilers follow.

Holby City's Jodie Rodgers has had her dark poisoning secret exposed after she inadvertently made Sacha Levy seriously ill, causing her to go missing from the hospital.

Jodie (Sian Reese-Williams) began her day with a spring in her step as she asked Sacha's (Bob Barrett) daughter Beka Levy (Francesca Barrett) to be a bridesmaid at their wedding, but things quickly went downhill for Jodie when Sacha finally confessed to her that he didn't love her and didn't want to marry her.

Although Jodie protested, arguing that she felt Beka was now in favour of their relationship, Sacha said: "Beka is the reason I need to end this. I need to focus on my daughter now."

Jodie seemed to take the news remarkably well, even telling Beka that she was confident that Sacha would change his mind, but it became clear that Jodie wasn't giving up as she poisoned Beka once again, pouring a suspicious substance over her food.

Thankfully, hospital psychiatrist Lucky Simpson (Vineeta Rishi) became suspicious of Jodie and began to dig into her past, tracking down Jodie's former fiancé and looking into the possibility that Jodie has Munchausen's syndrome – a psychological disorder which causes a person to pretend to be ill.

When Lucky met with him, Jodie's ex admitted that her constant illnesses when they were together appeared to be psychological and that she seemed to become sick every time he tried to end their relationship.

Just as Lucky had worked out exactly what was going on with Jodie, both Beka and Sacha fell seriously ill after sharing Beka's poisoned food. Tracking down Jodie, Lucky demanded to know what she had poisoned Beka with.

Thankfully, Lucky's quick thinking meant that Beka and Sacha could be treated, but Lucky was forced to admit to Sacha that it was Jodie who had triggered Beka's illness, telling him that Jodie has a mental illness which has been causing her behaviour and that she needs psychological help.

Despite being told to stay away from her, Sacha tracked down Jodie and confronted her, demanding to know why she had hurt his daughter.

"She was trying to split us up – I had to make you both see," she said, adding that even the possibility of Beka dying was "a price I was willing to pay, for us".

Just as Lucky turned up to explain that Jodie needed help, Sacha became angry and a frightened Jodie disappeared into a lift and fled. We later saw Jodie lurking outside the hospital, removing her volunteer apron and watching Sacha from afar.

Could Sacha, Beka and Jodie all still be in danger?

Holby City continues next Tuesday (January 26) at 7.50pm on BBC One.
