Here's how SingTel will benefit from Telkomsel’s growth

Profits of Telkomsel rose 15.6% in Q2.

Singapore Telecommunications' (Singtel) Indonesia mobile associate Telkomsel showed a stellar performance for Q2.

Telkomsel contributed 28.5% to Singtel's profit for the time period.

According to UOB Kay Hian, Telkomsel's net profits rose 15.6% in Q2. Its subscriber base also grew 13.1% YoY to 178 million.

Blended average revenue per user (ARPU) stood stable compared to local rivals.

According to UOB analyst Jonathan Koh, "Telkomsel continues to maintain its share of high-value subscribers and its lead outside of Java. It optimises its revenue through cluster-based pricing and market segmentation."

Revenue from voice grew 8.7% thanks to the migration from pay-as-you-use (PAYU) to voice packages.

Customers on flash data packages also grew 63.9% to 81.7 million, making the 45.9% of its subscriber base.

Data traffic also surged by 121.3%.
