Here's what developers can learn from CDL's recent Forest Woods launch

Its "Smart Home" features easily lured potential buyers.

For some analysts, the throngs of potential buyers crowding the showroom of City Developments Ltd.'s Forest Woods may signal property price stabilisation, as this may reflect to stronger volume sales. But what did this project do differently to attract such interest?

According to RHB analyst Vijay Natarajan, staying ahead with technology is one of the main lure of Forest Woods.

"In an era where technology has been revolutionising the way we live, providing homebuyers with in-built remotely controllable 'Smart Home' devices does provide an added edge," Natarajan said.

He noted that Forest Woods offers free standard smart home provisioning which allows homeowners to remotely control and monitor home devices.

More tech-savvy buyers can indulge themselves with other optional smart tech devices.

The analyst also asserted that developers should differentiate from the crowd by providing additional services at its door step.

"Forest Woods has a lobby to welcome guests and offers free Wi-Fi facilities," Natarajan cited as an example.

With this, he stressed the need to create such buzz ahead of a launch, as it is proven to attract buyers to visit the showrooms.

Coupled with the right timing and a strong reputation, the analyst explained that developers can easily craft a successful launch and translate crowds to sales volume.

"Launching the project at the right time does help to avoid the competition in an over-supplied property market. In case of Forest Woods, the project was launched after a seasonally dry period during the Hungry Ghost Month," he said.
