Gavin and Stacey star Rob Brydon has hinted that another special could be on the cards in the near future.

The actor, who played Bryn West across all three series of the beloved sitcom, said he reckons "it would seem strange" if writers Ruth Jones and James Corden didn't return with another episode considering the last one – 2019's Christmas outing – was left wide open for more.

"Well, I think they might do one more special, because they left it hanging, didn't they, with the proposal?" he wondered aloud to former co-star Sheridan Smith on his new Spotify podcast Brydon &.

"They should crack on if they are going to do it."

Said cliffhanger saw Jones' character Nessa Jenkins pop the question to former flame Smithy (Corden). But before he could reply, the screen cut to black, leaving fans desperate to know their future.

Later on in the interview, Smith, who brought Smithy's sister Rudi to life, described the Christmas special as a "masterpiece," and said that she can understand why "everyone's asking for more" because she feels the same way.

"What a cast and everyone was so lovely; the crew, everyone, was brilliant on that job," she added. "[Ruth and James] wrote it so well and so to just be a small part of it was an honour."
