Yahoo Finance Gambling outsider's hire as William Hill CFO welcomed
William Hill could make more changes among its rank after the company hired Ruth Prior as chief financial officer.
Ms Prior’s appointment is the first senior hire made by Philip Bowcock since he secured the role of permanent chief executive. He had held the role on an interim basis since July.
The appointment of Worldpay's chief operating officer was welcomed by some analysts.
Simon French, Cenkos Securities leisure analyst, said: “We would not be surprised to see more management change in the coming weeks as Mr Bowcock builds his own senior team.”
He added he was “encouraged” to see an appointment from outside the gambling industry given it “can sometimes be an introspective sector”.
Ms Prior will be paid an annual base salary of £425,000 and will receive a pension allowance of 20pc of base salary and potentially see a bonus of up to 150pc of base salary per annum.
Prior to her current role at Worldpay, Ms Prior was deputy chief financial officer. Before which she held the CFO role at music company EMI Group and worked at private equity firm Terra Firma Capital Partners. Her early career included stints at Costa Coffee owner Whitbread and brewer Bass.
Mr French added William Hill was also set to launch a search for a new chairman with Gareth Davies having indicated in last month's annual report he will stand down by the 2018 AGM.
