Flowserve: 1Q Earnings Snapshot
IRVING, Texas (AP) _ Flowserve Corp. (FLS) on Thursday reported a first-quarter loss of $610,000, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.
On a per-share basis, the Irving, Texas-based company said it had a loss of less than 1 cent. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 21 cents per share.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 41 cents per share.
The company that makes pumps, valves and other parts for the oil and gas industries posted revenue of $894.5 million in the period, which also did not meet Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $897 million.
Flowserve shares have decreased 45% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has dropped 11%. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $27.43, a decrease of 45% in the last 12 months.
