Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat to deliver Budget Statement on 24 March 2016

Finance Minister Heng Swee Keat will be delivering the Budget Statement in Parliament on 24 March 2016, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said in a statement on Monday (7 December).

Usually, the Budget is unveiled in February, but the MOF noted that Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong had indicated in September that the Budget Statement would be held later than usual.

There will be live television and radio coverage, as well as a live webcast on MOF's Singapore Budget website.

The ministry added that it will be launching "other useful platforms for the public to access information on the Budget, including a mobile app, a subscription service, plus feedback channels."

Heng, former Education Minister and former managing director of the Monetary Authority of Singapore, was appointed finance minister after the general election in September. He succeeded Deputy Prime Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who served as Finance Minister from December 2007 to September 2015.
