Factory output gets a boost from electronics, grows 10.2%

Electronics output surged 37.7% in March.

Singapore's manufacturing output continued its winning streak in March, up 10.2% compared to last year.

This is the same growth it registered during the previous month. Excluding the volatile biomedical manufacturing, output grew 12.4%.

Four of the six clusters registered strong growth for the said month with electronics leading the pack at 37.7%. Precision engineering came in second with a 12.8% growth. The third stellar performer is the chemicals segment, which expanded 3.5% in terms of output. The biomedical manufacturing registered a 2% growth.

Only general manufacturing and transport engineering reported declines, at 5.1% and 15.6%, respectively.
