The blockbuster season feels like a far and distant memory, but thanks to Netflix's commitment to release at least one new movie every single week in 2021, we've got some semblance of summer's big popcorn releases all year round.

While we wait for cinemas to reopen, the streaming giant has let Digital Spy crack the vault on its biggest movie of the year, reuniting Justice League's Zack Snyder with the undead and Guardians of the Galaxy's Dave Bautista with a big ol' gun.

Army of the Dead is a zombie epic that melds Ocean's Eleven and 28 Weeks Later – a bloody battle to the centre of Las Vegas through hordes of zombies for the deadliest heist imaginable. We've had exclusive access to Dave and Zack, plus its lethal cast of mercenaries including Ella Purnell, Omari Hardwick, Matthias Schweighöfer and Tig Notaro as they tell our movies editor Ian Sandwell exactly how huge this film is.

As with The Witcher, Netflix is planning a whole universe of content beyond Army of the Dead, with a spin-off anime, Army of the Dead: Lost Vegas, and prequel movie, Army of Thieves, starring Game of Thrones' Nathalie Emmanuel, and Man Like Mobeen's Guz Khan joining the ranks soon, too. Yep, really.

After devouring that, pore over our photoshoot and surprisingly heartfelt chat with Dave Bautista. He recounts his journey trying to fight off being stereotyped as a meathead WWE wrestler, to becoming an undisputed movie star and legitimate thespian, as he's racked up roles in everything from Bond and Blade Runner 2049 to Marvel and upcoming sci-fi epic Dune. And he's just getting started, with directing – and even a rom-com – firmly in his crosshairs.

Beyond that, it's an equally blockbuster issue. Kicking off the show in Eye Spy, we have interviews for BBC Wales' new thriller The Pact, with stars from Breaking Bad, The Crown, Broadchurch and Dunkirk involved.

Then we chat with Hollyoaks newbie Omar Malik, as well as the cast of the most creative new comedy in years, Mythic Quest, which is returning for season two on Apple TV+.

Next, slide into The Insider to hear why Netflix's Bridgerton season two doesn't need that darn sexy Duke, following Regé-Jean Page's departure from the show, plus what you need to remember ahead of A Quiet Place Part II after the looooong release date delays. We've also explained all the secret soap body doubles they've been using to get around COVID filming rules safely, as well as all the big names leaving (and joining) the shows over the coming months.

Finally, head back to the… past, in Time Jump, as we look back at New Girl ten years on, with Cece actress Hannah Simone. We also find out where the cast of Attack the Block are now for its 10th anniversary (SPOILER: John Boyega did pretty well for himself). And finally, as we enter Mental Health Awareness Week, we look back at the best mental health storylines tackled in Soapland.

And that's just for starters. So grab your swag bag, and shuffle this way for the very best issue of Digital Spy magazine to date. It's (un)dead good. I know. Sorry.
