European stocks slide at open on Deutsche Bank woes
European stock markets slumped at the start of trading on Friday as Deutsche Bank shares plunged on widening concerns over its weak financial strength, in turn weighing on its peers.
Frankfurt's DAX 30 index slid 1.6 percent overall as Deutsche Bank shares plunged more than 7.0 percent in value.
London's benchmark FTSE 100 index shed 1.3 percent to 6,831.12 points, with Royal Bank of Scotland and Barclays tumbling more than 4.0 percent.
The Paris CAC 40 meanwhile lost 1.4 percent to 4,383.70 points compared with Thursday's close.
