Energizer: Fiscal 2Q Earnings Snapshot

ST. LOUIS (AP) _ Energizer Holdings Inc. (ENR) on Tuesday reported a fiscal second-quarter loss of $73.3 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the St. Louis-based company said it had a loss of $1.14. Earnings, adjusted for costs related to mergers and acquisitions and to account for discontinued operations, came to 20 cents per share.

The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 22 cents per share.

The battery and personal care products company posted revenue of $556.4 million in the period, also missing Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $557.5 million.

Energizer expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.90 to $3 per share, with revenue in the range of $2.52 billion to $2.57 billion.

Energizer shares have risen 5% since the beginning of the year.
