PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) _ Electro Scientific Industries Inc. (ESIO) on Tuesday reported fiscal second-quarter profit of $16.8 million.

The Portland, Oregon-based company said it had profit of 47 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for pretax expenses and stock option expense, were 59 cents per share.

The semiconductor testing equipment maker posted revenue of $85.9 million in the period.

Electro Scientific Industries shares have declined 30 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 13 percent in the last 12 months.
