Strictly Come Dancing: Did Giovanni Pernice make a dig at Maura Higgins with routine?

Strictly Come Dancing fans were shocked to hear of Giovanni Pernice and Maura Higgins' split last week - and now they think he might've made a subtle dig at her with his routine.

After going Instagram official with their relationship in the summer, Giovanni and Maura reportedly called things off after four months of dating. After wiping their grids of all photos of each other, a source told The Sun, "It's all over for now. Maura's absolutely devastated.

"Pals are hoping that they can patch things up. But only time will tell whether they'll work things out as Giovanni is so busy. He's been focusing on Strictly, training his celeb partner Rose [Ayling Ellis] 24/7, and they've become really good friends. He's even been learning sign language from Rose, showing it off on social media."

Now, fans are wondering whether Giovanni and Rose's routine on Saturday night [23rd October] was more pointed than first thought.

The pair danced the Viennese Waltz and came second in the leaderboard after the judges' scores. But fans were also wondering whether the song - 'Fallin'' by Alicia Keys - and the routine, which saw the pair pretending to break up, was actually about Maura and Giovanni.

"Anyone else think that 'argument' and Giovanni's 'explanation' was about him and Maura?!" one person wrote, while another put, "Was Giovanni describing his relationship with Maura?"

Someone else said, "Interesting concept considering Gio just split with Maura."

To be fair, it could easily be a coincidence, and dance is often up for interpretation anyway. Or maybe Giovanni is taking inspiration from his surroundings?
