Daily Markets Briefing: STI up 0.99%

YTD performance now hit +9.62%.

The Straits Times Index (STI) ended 30.94 points or 0.99% higher to 3157.82, taking the year-to-date performance to +9.62%, according to SGX.

The top active stocks Tuesday, March 28 2017, were DBS, which gained 1.71%, Singtel, which gained 1.03%, UOB, which gained 0.51%, ComfortDelGro, which gained 2.81% and OCBC Bank, with a 0.52% advance. The FTSE ST Mid Cap Index gained 1.04%, while the FTSE ST Small Cap Index rose 0.74%.

According to OCBC, following the 0.99% rebound yesterday, STI is on track to test the 3180 key hurdle. Above 3180, the next resistance lies at 3200.

"On the downside, we peg the immediate support at 3150 resistance-turned-support, and followed by the next support level at 3100. Overall volume shrank 8.6% with 2.7b units traded, while total value rose 18.2% to S$1.2b, and average value/unit climbed 29.3% to S$0.45," OCBC said.
