SINGAPORE — The Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 12 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday (22 November), taking the country’s total case count to 58,160.

All new cases are imported. For the 12th straight day, there are no new cases of locally-transmitted infection.

“All new cases today are asymptomatic, and were detected from our proactive screening and surveillance,” said the MOH.

Three of them are permanent residents who returned from India, while five are work permit holders currently employed in Singapore who arrived from the Philippines and Indonesia.

Two are a dependant’s pass holder and a student’s pass holder who both arrived from India.

These cases have been placed on the stay-home notice upon their arrival here and were tested while serving the notice.

The remaining two imported cases are ship crew of separate vessels. One of them, a work pass holder who arrived from Indonesia to board a ship docked here, was isolated upon his arrival and tested positive for COVID-19 during isolation.

The other case is a special pass holder who is a crew member of a ship that arrived from the Philippines. He had not disembarked from the ship where he had remained isolated, and was swabbed on board.

Separately, the MOH announced the closure of a cluster at The Leo dormitory – located at 23 Kaki Bukit Road 3 – as there have been no cases linked to it for the past two incubation periods, or 28 days.

99% of total cases have recovered; 1 in ICU

With three more patients discharged from hospitals or community isolation facilities on Sunday, 58,067 cases – or 99.8 per cent of the total – have fully recovered from the infection.

Most of the 26 hospitalised cases are stable or improving, while one is in critical condition in the intensive care unit.

A total of 39 patients – with mild symptoms or are clinically well but still test positive – are isolated and cared for at community facilities.

Apart from 28 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four, whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.
