Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street's Kelly Neelan is rushed to hospital with her life hanging in the balance next week.
Kelly (Millie Gibson) collapses after taking a pill that she bought from Simon Barlow.
The worrying storyline airs at the end of next week and is sparked after Asha Alahan (Tanisha Gorey) splits from Nina Lucas.
When Nina (Mollie Gallagher) discovers that Asha is planning to surprise her with a night away at a hotel, she gently explains that she's not ready for a sexual relationship at the moment.
Nina suggests that it's time to go back to being mates, but Asha is devastated over the break-up.
Later, an emotional Asha approaches Kelly and Summer Spellman (Harriet Bibby) at the Victoria Gardens, admitting that she wants to buy some pills and get wasted.
Kelly persuades Simon (Alex Bain) to sell her some pills. However, Asha and Summer soon find Kelly unresponsive after taking one of the pills and they desperately call an ambulance.
The incident comes as Simon's mum Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) is facing a potentially life-changing decision over his involvement with drug dealing.
Jacob Hay's boss Harvey – played by Will Mellor – decides to give Simon a promotion after discovering that Jacob has been stealing from him. Simon wants to stop dealing altogether, but Harvey refuses to let him.
When Simon tells Leanne about Harvey, she insists they have no choice but to go to the police.
Just as mother and son are about to head out, Chesney Brown arrives to tell them about Kelly.
Simon points out they can't go to the police now, as he was the one who sold the pills to Kelly. Leanne decides she now has no choice but to meet dangerous Harvey and sort this out herself.
Coronation Street airs these scenes in an hour-long episode on Friday, March 12 at 7.30pm on ITV.
