Crystal Palace have continued their impressive summer rebuild under new manager Patrick Vieira with the signing of Conor Gallagher.

The England Under-21 midfielder has moved to Selhurst Park from London rivals Chelsea on a one-year loan deal, joining ex Blues team-mate Marc Guehi, who joined on a permanent basis earlier in July.

Palace have also signed the reigning EFL Young Player of the Season Michael Olise from Reading this summer as well as recruiting former Sunderland goalkeeper Remi Matthews.

Earlier this week, the Eagles completed a deal with Lyon to sign influential former Fulham loanee Joachim Andersen.

“I’m buzzing to be here. I can’t wait to get started, I’m happy to get the deal over the line,” said Gallagher after sealing his move on Friday evening.

“I spoke to the manager, I liked what he said, I liked how he wants to play, how he wants me to play and how he wants the team to play. I feel like I can learn from him and the players around me.”

Gallagher has yet to make a senior appearance for Chelsea, where he came up through the club’s youth system, though is no stranger to the Premier League having made 32 appearances for relegated West Brom last term.

He also impressed during separate stints on loan at Charlton and Swansea during the 2019/20 campaign.

“I am delighted Conor has chosen to come to Crystal Palace on a season-long loan after some impressive performances in the Premier League last season,” said Palace chairman Steve Parish.

“We very much look forward to him joining the squad as we continue to build towards the new season.”
