Coeur Mining: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

CHICAGO (AP) _ Coeur Mining Inc. (CDE) on Wednesday reported a fourth-quarter loss of $271 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Chicago-based company said it had a loss of $1.13. Losses, adjusted for asset impairment costs and non-recurring costs, were 1 cent per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was breakeven on a per-share basis.

The silver mining company posted revenue of $195 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $341.2 million, or $1.56 per share. Revenue was reported as $711.5 million.

Coeur Mining shares have decreased 23% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $6.25, an increase of 13% in the last 12 months.
