Chris Pratt: Fans call out Marvel stars’ support for their co-star as ‘white dude solidarity’
Many Twitter users are calling the support Chris Pratt has received from his Marvel co-stars “white dude solidarity”.
Social media users pointed out that the same actors who rushed to Pratt’s defence were silent when their other co-stars – including Brie Larson and Tessa Thompson – were being harassed.
Yesterday (22 October), Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana, Robert Downey Jr and Guardians of the Galaxy writer and director James Gunn stepped in to defend their Avengers co-star Pratt after the internet voted him “the worst Hollywood Chris”.
The “Hollywood Chris debate” is a running joke on Twitter and one that resurfaced this week after the Jurassic World star was noticeably absent from an Avengers reunion intended to raise funds for the Biden campaign. Twitter users criticised the actor for not being politically engaged
After news of the poll’s results circulated on social media, Pratt’s co-stars leapt to his defence.
Many fans pointed out that this solidarity and support was nowhere to be found when their other Marvel co-stars – including Larson, Thompson, Anthony Mackie, Elizabeth Olsen and Zendaya – were the victims of serious online harassment.
One Twitter user wrote: “Where was this energy when Brie Larson was massively harassed for months just for advocating for diversity in the industry?”
Another added: I cannot believe people are defending Chris Pratt. Where was all this energy when Elizabeth Olsen was bullied off Instagram and Brie Larson was harassed with sexist and misogynistic comments?”
All these Marvel dudes were REAL quiet when Zendaya, Tessa Thompson, and Brie Larson were getting mercilessly harassed by dudebros, but Chris Pratt gets RIGHTFULLY called out on his bullshit, and they suddenly have a lot to say.
They can all get in the dumpster with him. pic.twitter.com/hH1dnyUpno— Steph Evz (@Steph_Evz) October 20, 2020
Where was this energy when Brie Larson was massively harassed for months just for advocating for diversity in the industry? And they all knew about it. Suddenly Chris Pratt gets some criticism and they all come to his defense? The bar is hell. pic.twitter.com/4mmlfxFkig

A third wrote: “So when Zendaya, Chadwick, Anthony Mackie + Brie Larson etc. was getting dragged through the mud for their MCU roles it was crickets from the Avengers Assemble hive but when Chris Pratt is being called out for being a Trump supporter here come the defense squad.”
“All these Marvel dudes were real quiet when Zendaya, Tessa Thompson and Brie Larson were getting mercilessly harassed by dudebros, but Chris Pratt gets rightfully called out on this bulls*** and they suddenly have a lot to say,” another user wrote. “I am not here for your white dude solidarity.”
Pratt has yet to comment on the online furore.
