Chris Hemsworth is in for quite the snowy adventure in a new sneak peek from the set of Extraction 2.

New footage shared by the star on Instagram shows him standing next to director Sam Hargrave on a very chilly train journey in Prague, offering a teaser: "Two things are very different from the last film. 1. [It's] very, very cold. 2. I'm alive. How? You'll have to find out – watch the movie."

The film features the Marvel star as mercenary Tyler Rake, returning in the role despite the first movie's cliffhanger leaving fans fearing the worst.

Earlier this week, Hargrave also posted a video on Instagram, announcing the first shooting day had just wrapped.

"That's a wrap on day one of Extraction 2 with the train location," Hargrave said in the video. "We got a lot of snow today, but it looks pretty great on camera, so we'll take it."

Rake's fate was left somewhat ambiguous at the end of the original movie, when he was shot on screen by one of crimelord Asif's associates and left for dead in a river.

However, the final scene of the film dropped a not-so-subtle hint that Hemsworth's character had survived. The moment briefly shows a man resembling Rake in a vision by the kidnapped boy Ovi (Rudraksh Jaiswal).

A new teaser released in September depicted the aftermath of Rake's apparent death as he opened his eyes underwater. The video ended with the hashtag "#RakeLives", which left little doubt as to whether the character would make a spectacular comeback in the second instalment.

Hemsworth is reuniting with Avengers: Endgame's Joe and Anthony Russo, who serve as producers. Joe also wrote the script of the upcoming movie, which doesn't have an official release date as of yet.

Extraction is available to watch now on Netflix.
