Chico's: Fiscal 2Q Earnings Snapshot

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) _ Chico's FAS Inc. (CHS) on Wednesday reported fiscal second-quarter earnings of $16.8 million.

On a per-share basis, the Fort Myers, Florida-based company said it had profit of 13 cents.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 12 cents per share.

The clothing chain posted revenue of $544.7 million in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $540.6 million.

Chico's shares have declined slightly more than 4 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has climbed 4 percent in the last 12 months.
