Chicago PD spoilers for season 9 follow.
Chicago PD has wrapped up for the year with a dramatic midseason finale that saw Jay Halstead using blackmail to save Voight's career and eloping with Hailey Upton.
Fans of the show don't have long to wait to see what happens next, with the show returning on January 5 in the US. But in the meantime, Tracy Spiridakos, who plays Hailey, has given a small insight into what is to come for her character.
Speaking to TVLine, she said: "Hailey has a really crazy episode coming up that I am excited about. There is a very intense case, and Hailey is extremely motivated to solve it.
"And my stunt double Kelli [Victoria Scarangello] and I get to go into the Chicago River in January!"
With a major stunt and plotline to look forward to, showrunner Gwen Sigan added: "I'm incredibly excited about an upcoming Upton episode. It's been one of the most ambitious episodes we've done on the show so far, especially from a production standpoint."
Meanwhile, Jesse Lee Soffer said of his character Jay's dynamic with Voight going forwards: "Hopefully, Voight lets Jay in some more, and they continue to trust each other.
"Maybe it also helps Voight make some decisions in a more morally sound way. I'm sure [in] the second half of the season we'll see that different dynamic between the two of them."
Over on Chicago Fire, the 200th episode which aired in October saw long-running character Captain Matt Casey (Jesse Spencer) leaving for Oregon. New cast member Brett Dalton joined the show as interim lieutenant Jason Pelham.
