Chelsea FC XI v Arsenal: Kepa and Gilmour start - lineup, confirmed team news and latest injury updates

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has handed starts to Kepa Arrizabalaga and Billy Gilmour in tonight’s Premier League London derby against Arsenal.

Kepa starts in goal behind a back three of Cesar Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma. Reece James and Ben Chilwell play at wing-back, with Jorginho and Gilmour sitting in midfiield.

In front of them, a three-man attack of Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic and Kai Havertz will test Arsenal’s defence, with Havertz once again playing in a false nine role.

Elsewhere, Tuchel says Andreas Christensen will play again this season despite being forced off during Saturday’s win over Manchester City.

Mateo Kovacic is also edging closer to returning to full fitness, targeting Saturday’s FA Cup final against Leicester City for his comeback from a hamstring strain.

Christensen limped off after landing awkwardly during Chelsea’s 2-1 win against City last Saturday.

“It was better than we feared,” said the Tuchel. “The images (scans) yesterday were much better. We hope he’ll be back for one of the two Leicester games.

“It will be a tough one, but the season isn’t finished for him hopefully. We have realistic hopes the latest he can come back is Aston Villa.”

Kovacic has not played since April 10 and Tuchel added: “We have to postpone his personal race, it’s on to try to make it into the squad for Wembley.

“Kova is a big loss with his ability to drive with balls, with his speed on the ball, without the ball and Kova is such a positive character and such an unique player, a fighter, on whom you can always rely in training and games, has big experience although he’s still young.

“I can’t wait until he is back in full team training. He did some steps in the right direction and I hope he can join team training after Arsenal.”

Chelsea XI: Kepa, Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Zouma, James, Gilmour, Jorginho, Chilwell, Mount, Pulisic, Havertz

Subs: Alonso, Werner, Mendy, Giroud, Hudson-Odoi, Ziyech, Emerson, Anjorin, Livramento

Injury list: Kovacic (thigh), Christensen (thigh)
