The Chase's new spin-off The Chase Extra has prompted speculation from some that beloved host Bradley Walsh might be stepping down – but Chaser Anne Hegerty is keen to set the record straight.

Following news of The Chase Extra, a new six-episode series set to launch on the ITV Hub, a number of tabloids have run stories about a potential replacement for Bradley, with This Morning's Schofe tipped as the apparent 'favourite'.

It was also suggested that ITV was "under fire for having no women hosts fronting game shows or quizzes", while Anne was listed as the most likely Chaser to leave the series.

Now, The Governess herself has rubbished the rumours, addressing the claims on Twitter. "Firstly, Brad isn't leaving," Anne said. "Secondly, I'm not leaving.

"Thirdly, I'm a woman and I DO present an ITV gameshow (Britain's Brightest Celebrity Family). What else are you going to get wrong?"

The Chase Extra isn't the first series inspired by the popular daytime quiz show – fans have recently enjoyed companion series Beat the Chasers and The Chasers Road Trip: Trains, Brains and Automobiles.

The latest Chase spin-off will see each of the Chasers turn quizmasters, as they set their own fans 10 quiz questions.

Anne, Mark 'The Beast' Labbett, Paul 'The Sinnerman' Sinha, Jenny 'The Vixen' Ryan, Shaun 'The Dark Destroyer' Wallace, and Darragh 'The Menace' Ennis will each present their own episode, while also sharing jokes and those all-important quiz tips.

The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV, while The Chase Extra will launch exclusively on ITV Hub on Monday, March 8 at 6pm.
