SINGAPORE – The Community Health Assist Scheme (CHAS) card will be available digitally on the Singpass mobile application from Friday (28 April).

In a statement, the Ministry of Health (MOH) said that this will offer CHAS cardholders an additional choice.

"Physical CHAS cards will continue to be issued by MOH and recognised at CHAS General Practitioner (GP) and CHAS dental clinics, and those who prefer to use their physical CHAS cards can continue to do so," MOH said.

The digital CHAS card will be automatically available on the Singpass app for new and existing CHAS cardholders aged 15 years and above. It can be accessed from the "My Cards" section on the Singpass app, alongside users' digital NRIC and driving license.

The digital CHAS card, launched in collaboration with the Government Technology Agency, is part of the government's efforts to digitalise more of its services to provide greater convenience to members of the public, the MOH said.

"Cardholders seeking treatment at CHAS GP or CHAS dental clinics can choose to present either their digital or physical CHAS card, together with their digital or physical NRIC, during the visit to enjoy CHAS subsidies," MOH added.

MOH will continue to issue physical CHAS cards to cardholders after their applications or renewals have been approved. The physical card will be mailed to the cardholder, and the digital card will be available on their Singpass app one day after they have received the notification SMS of the successful application.

The MOH advised CHAS cardholders not to take screenshots of their digital CHAS card or share their Singpass login details with others – to protect against unauthorised access.
