CenterPoint: 3Q Earnings Snapshot

HOUSTON (AP) _ CenterPoint Energy Inc. (CNP) on Thursday reported third-quarter net income of $270 million.

On a per-share basis, the Houston-based company said it had profit of 47 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 53 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 43 cents per share.

The energy delivery company posted revenue of $2.74 billion in the period.

CenterPoint expects full-year earnings in the range of $1.60 to $1.70 per share.

CenterPoint shares have climbed almost 2% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has increased 23%. The stock has risen 3.5% in the last 12 months.
