Cat Cafes In Singapore - Which Ones Are Value For Money?

This article was originally on GET.com at: Cat Cafes In Singapore - Which Ones Are Value For Money?

For all you kitty lovers who don't have cats of your own, cat cafes are important establishments for you to get your dose of furry-feline-cuteness while you enjoy an afternoon coffee. But these cafes are not necessarily the cheapest places to go to enjoy afternoon tea or coffee - but let's be honest, who goes there for the drinks anyways when there are so many cute cats running around waiting to be pampered?

Here, we at GET.com will show you the 4 cat cafes in Singapore and sort them out according to their value for money (lowest value to highest value). I should warn you, this post contains some ridiculously cute photos of cats from the respective cafes.

4. The Company Of Cats

The Company of Cats located near Chinatown is home to 11 cats, all of which were previously strays or abandoned. The resident cats all have job designations, like being a Sales Meownager or a Meowketing Director (how cute is that).

What started out as just a clubhouse where cat lovers came together for coffee or yoga, has since become a full-time cat den with full-time staff that takes care of them.

The cats at The Company of Cats love cuddling and rubbing their noses on you - a sign that they like being around you.

The Company Of Cats' Value For Money

3 hours at The Company of Cats amounts to $34, unless you visit on a weekday from 12pm - 4pm. This makes them the most pricy cat cafe in Singapore.

But putting the price point aside, you can also think of it this way - A portion of their profits go straight to the Animal Lovers League (ALL), which is a registered non-profit charity for about 700 dogs and cats that have once been abused or abandoned.

So while you're paying a slightly higher amount than you would at other cat cafes, you're also supporting an organisation that saves lives.

The newest addition to the cat cafe scene is Meomi Cat Cafe, nestled in the Kampong Glam area. It has a smaller space compared to the rest of the cat cafes but I suppose that's what makes it all the more charming and cosy.

The cats here are a little more exotic. Some breeds you can find here are Maine Coons, Scottish Folds and also the rather popular Munchkin.

Meomi Cat Cafe's Value For Money

3 hours at Meomi Cat Cafe amounts to $33 with a complimentary drink. This makes Meomi the second most expensive cat cafe in Singapore.

The very first cat cafe to reach Singapore's shores was Neko No Niwa. This cafe is nestled in Boat Quay and it currently houses 13 resident cats that were once abandoned or strays.

Some of these sweet natured kitties are called Skittles, a two-year old Ticked Tabbie, Brown Monkey, a 3-year old Sealpoint, and Baloo, a black Maine Coon and Ragdoll cross. They were all adopted in 2013, which is the same year that the cafe opened for business.

Neko No Niwa's Value For Money

3 hours at Neko No Niwa costs $24. This special rate only costs $2 more than buying an entry for only two hours, which amounts to $22.

To get the best value for money at Neko No Niwa, go straight for the 3-hour special. It will let you spend more time with the cats for a relatively cheap price.

1. The Cat Cafe

The Cat Cafe located at Victoria Street, is now home to about 15 abandoned and ex-stray kitties. The loft-like space provides plenty of room for you to play with the cats and watch what they get up to. If you just want to enjoy their company, you can have a meal or a drink without feeling like you need to rush.

The Cat Cafe's Value For Money

With only an entry cost of just $15 that comes a with complimentary soft drink, The Cat Cafe is the most value for money out of all the cat cafes in Singapore. They don't charge per hour because they want you to take your time getting to know the cats.

However, the unlimited time frame has its downside too. Be prepared to queue if you arrive during peak hours. To avoid this, head down on a weekday morning or afternoon, you'll be able to have some quality time with your new feline friends.

241B Victoria Street

At the end of the day, the profits that these establishments earn, will go back to helping the resident cats. If you think about the big picture, the more successful these cafes are, the more cats they will be able to adopt and re-home. That's one less stray kitty on the streets.
