Yahoo Finance Bridgerton's Queen Charlotte spin-off teases conflict in full-length trailer
The full-length trailer for Bridgerton spin-off Queen Charlotte is here, and it promises as much drama as the original Netflix hit.
The first full trailer for the upcoming prequel series introduces fans to young Queen Charlotte (India Amarteifio) as it opens with the royal wondering why she was chosen to ascend to the throne.
It also shows the arranged marriage between the Queen and King George (Corey Mylchreest) after a series of scenes of the pair meeting, and the King attempting to woo his betrothed.
According to Netflix, the series will be "centered on Queen Charlotte's rise to prominence and power".
The streaming giant added: "This Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen's marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of the Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton."
The show, which will premiere on Netflix on May 4, will see Golda Rosheuvel in the role of Queen Charlotte, with Adjoa Andoh and Ruth Gemmell reprising their roles as Lady Agatha Danbury and Lady Violet Bridgerton respectively.
Gangs of London's Michelle Fairley will Princess Augusta, alongside the likes of Sam Clemmett as Young Brimsley, and Freddie Dennis as Reynolds.
The cast is completed by Richard Cunningham as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim as Adolphus, Rob Maloney as the Royal Doctor, Cyril Nri as Lord Danbury, and Hugh Sachs as an older Brimsley.
The third season of the parent show is being filmed currently, but Phoebe Dynevor revealed that she won't be making an appearance as Daphne Basset in the upcoming episodes.
"Sadly [I'm] not in season 3. Potentially in the future. I'm just excited to watch as a viewer," she revealed.
Ruby Stokes also won't be returning to the show, with Hannah Dodd set to take over the role of Francesca.
Bridgerton seasons 1-2 are streaming now on Netflix. Season 3 is in production. Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story is due to premiere on May 4, 2023.
