Blake Lively Has Launched Her Own Range Of Drinks And The Name Has A Family Connection

Blake Lively Has Launched Her Own Range Of Drinks And The Name Has A Family Connection

Here’s the Friday pick-me-up we didn’t know we needed: Blake Lively has launched her own range of sparkling drinks mixers, called Betty Buzz.

The name is an ode to the actress’ family – her grandmother, aunt and one-year-old daughter are all called Betty. And as for the ‘Buzz’ part? ‘Why should alcohol get all the fun?’ said Lively in a press release. ‘The bubbles and flavors feel like a buzz of joy.'

The new product comes in five different flavours: Tonic Water, Sparking Grapefruit, Meyer Lemon Club Soda, Sparkling Lemon Lime and Ginger Beer. The drinks are made with real juice and come without any artificial flavours, colours, sweeteners, or gluten.

If you feel like mixing a proper cocktail as they do in the Reynolds-Lively household (and let’s face it, who wouldn’t?) you could even pick up a bottle of Aviation American Gin, in which Ryan Reynolds has held a stake since 2018.

Ryan Reynolds retweeted Lively, joking that her new mixers ‘pair deliciously’ with his gin. ‘Coincidence? Conspiracy? Hard to say.’

Or, you could make like Lively herself and skip the alcohol. ‘I don’t drink,’ she said. ‘I know that’s odd coming from the wife of an infamous gin slinger.’

‘Over the past many years of mixing but not drinking cocktails, it became clear mixers are the unsung heroes of the drink world and deserve just as much love as alcohol. We've spent the last three years crafting Betty Buzz and are so excited for people to finally taste it.'

On her Instagram stories, Lively revealed she’d spent three years ‘obsessing over the exact bubble size and quantity for the perfect, tightly explosive pops… I should mention, though it goes without saying at this point in the recap, I’m a Virgo.’

Her hard work has paid off, however, as she already has a high-profile fan: Hugh Jackman posted an Instagram video in support of Lively, who he counts as a good friend.

'This is not an #ad and no, I wasn't asked to record this video. I did it because @blakelively is a class act, sunshine 7 days a week and her new fizzy drink @bettybuzz is absolutely delicious,' Jackman wrote.

In the video, he went on to joke: 'You are one of a kind, Blake. You are just fun, you are creative, you are sunshine seven days a week and you're a saint for marrying that man. Sorry. Not sorry.'

In the comments, Reynolds clapped back with: 'This wasn't part of the deal when I bought this video on Cameo.'

Betty Buzz currently only ships within the US, but fingers crossed the bottles – which are offered in 12-packs, with each bottle big enough to make two cocktails, for $29.99 – will be available here soon.
