Bill Pullman joins Jessica Biel in ‘The Sinner'

Bill Pullman is set to star alongside Jessica Biel in "The Sinner," a new crime drama pilot from NBCUniversal reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Based on the bestselling book by Petra Hammesfahr, the drama will tell the story of young housewife and mother Cora Tanner, who is overcome by a sudden fit of rage and impulsively commits a very public act of violence. However, she has no idea why she did it.

Biel is set to star as Tanner with Pullman as Harry Ambrose, a sensitive detective who finds himself both disturbed and fascinated by the young mother, and obsessed with uncovering the reason behind her act.

Pullman can most recently be seen reprising his "Independence Day" role in the movie's sequel "Independence Day: Resurgence."
