NEW YORK (AP) _ BGC Partners Inc. (BGCP) on Thursday reported a loss of $18.5 million in its fourth quarter.

The New York-based company said it had a loss of 6 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 14 cents per share.

The brokerage company posted revenue of $466.4 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $466.4 million, missing Street forecasts.

For the year, the company reported profit of $194.1 million, or 60 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $1.94 billion.

BGC Partners shares have risen 19 percent since the beginning of the year. The stock has dropped 55 percent in the last 12 months.
