Beyond Meat snags Tesla exec, Microsoft shakes up board, Larry Ellison blasts Uber & WeWork

Here's a look at some of the companies the Yahoo Finance team will be watching for you

Beyond Meat (BYND) is cooking up a new name in the C-Suite. The company has hired former Tesla (TSLA) executive Sanjay Shah as its new chief operating officer. Shah comes from Tesla's solar division, and was senior vice president of energy operations. He also worked at Amazon.

Google (GOOGL) is facing a lot of online complaints as YouTube makes changes to its verification process. It's designed to combat hate speech and harassment. Verified channels now need to have a well-known name, be a highly-searched creator and differentiate themselves from channels with a similar name. Creators have flocked to Twitter to complain that verified checkmarks were disappearing, but YouTube insists that nobody was unverified.

Microsoft (MSFT) is shaking up its board of directors. The company nominated the GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) CEO Emma Walmsley to its board. Walmsley has been Glaxo's CEO since 2017. Separately, Microsoft says longtime board members Charles Noski and Helmut Panke are resigning. Shareholders are set to vote on the changes at the annual meeting in December.

Uber (UBER) isn’t on tech icon Larry Ellison’s short list. He says both Uber and real estate company WeWork are "almost worthless.” Ellison said Uber's capital is coming only from taking market share from rival Lyft (LYFT). And he mocked WeWork for deeming itself a tech company — saying that its business plan was "bizarre." WeWork declined comment, and while Uber did not return Yahoo Finance's request for comment.

Payment platform Stripe is now the third-most valuable startup in the U.S. with a $35 billion valuation, trailing only Juul and WeWorK. The boost comes after a $250 million funding round for Stripe, which provides payment infrastructure to platforms including Spotify, Uber, and Airbnb.
