AXS Drive app enables cardless parking in Singapore

AXS has launched AXS Drive, a mobile app that auto-deducts parking fees through the driver’s credit card linked to their car details.

Available on Android and iOS, drivers can download the AXS Drive app, input their car plate and In-Vehicle Unit (IU) number, and link a credit or debit card for payments. It is now supporting only Mastercard cards.

The mobile app uses licence plate recognition to record a vehicle's entry and exit times and processes payments after the vehicle leaves the car park. Currently, it can be used at 12 commercial car parks, including those at Downtown East, Far East Plaza, The Heeren, and Wisma Atria.

Since AXS Drive is integrated with the existing Electronic Parking Systems (EPS) which detects the IU, it is easy for car park solutions providers and operators to implement the solution without the need for additional hardware. As such, AXS aims to onboard 100 commercial car parks by the end of this year.

Drivers often experience frustrations when car park gantries remain shut as they attempt to exit car parks. This usually occurs when the EPS encounters problems trying to process the payment of car park fees. As an account-based payment processing system, AXS Drive aims to ease these frustrations that come from IU reading errors or cashcard errors.

Additionally, drivers can use AXS Drive to check parking space availability and receive real-time updates on traffic conditions through integrated traffic camera updates. The mobile app also adds a convenient way to manage common motoring service payments, such as road tax renewals and fine payments. It maintains a detailed, per-transaction log of online receipts, making it easy for users to track expenses and file reimbursement claims.

Benefits to car park operators

Car park operators also stand to benefit from AXS Drive. For instance, AXS’s system can record vehicle details more accurately at exit, reducing congestion at exit gantries. At the same time, the account-based payment method that AXS Drive uses deducts the car park fee at the backend. This helps to significantly reduce debit errors and increase revenue for car park operators.

AXS Drive can also be easily integrated with existing parking privilege programmes, facilitate digitalised coupons like parking tickets and passes, streamline processes and reduce administrative burdens and paper waste. By automating parking management, facilities management staff can focus on more critical tasks.

Moreover, AXS Drive offers value-added features such as real-time advertising of available parking spaces to boost occupancy rates and increase revenue potential.

To encourage user adoption of the AXS Drive app, AXS is offering drivers a $1 voucher for their next parking payment for every referral that makes at least one parking payment through the app. Vouchers earned can be tracked under the Parking Privileges section of the mobile app and will automatically be utilised to deduct the parking charges. Any remaining balance parking fees will be deducted from the linked Mastercard cards.
