Ascena Retail: Fiscal 4Q Earnings Snapshot

MAHWAH, N.J. (AP) _ Ascena Retail Group Inc. (ASNA) on Thursday reported a fiscal fourth-quarter loss of $358 million, after reporting a profit in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Mahwah, New Jersey-based company said it had a loss of $1.81. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, were 13 cents per share.

The owner of clothing retail chains posted revenue of $1.45 billion in the period.

For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $661.4 million, or $3.35 per share. Revenue was reported as $5.49 billion.

For the current quarter ending in November, Ascena Retail said it expects revenue in the range of $1.1 billion to $1.13 billion.

In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, the company's shares hit 31 cents. A year ago, they were trading at $4.05.
