Sneaker culture is ever-evolving. Though some classic silhouettes may relaunch after a few years, certain brands always add an updated kick of personality to these refreshes.
In this week’s episode of Complex and In The Know’s The Flip, host Racks Rogan shares his thoughts on some of the funkiest sneaker drops of the week, revealing if he thinks they’re worth the investment or not.
Salehe Bembury X New Balance “Finders Keepers”
The first shoe release featured on this week’s “The Drop” segment is the unique and “extremely limited” – Selehe Bembury X New Balance “Finders Keepers.”
“He’s actually blessed us with the Selehe Bembury X New Balance ‘Finders Keepers,'” Racks said of his colleague’s new New Balance shoe release. “It has a way longer name, but I’m just gonna run with the campaign.”
But here’s the most interesting part of this release – it’s scavenger-hunt-themed, which explains the animal-inspired prints and textures.
“Due to the campaign being, I believe, a scavenger hunt, [there will be a] number of these shoes you can expect to be extremely limited, which will make them extremely valuable,” he added. “So I’m gonna just go ahead and put Salehe over here on the ‘Hot [list]’ because the man can’t really lose out here.”
Nike Air Force 1 Low Acorn
Initially, these Nike Air Force 1s launched exclusively in Japan back in 2002. Now, they’re officially available for everyone. Despite their exclusive past, Racks doesn’t think they’re worth the investment today.
“If you want me to be honest with you, I’mma stay away from them,” he said. “It’s just like ‘Question of the Week.’ It’s never as good as the first time.”
He added that while he’s not saying you may not be able to resell them, they’re really not worth the resale.
Nike SB Dunk High “Maui Wowie”
Last up is the Nike SB Dunk High “Maui Wowie,” which Racks dubs as Nike’s celebratory nod to the 4/20 holiday. Without hesitation, he threw these bad boys on the “Hot List.”
“You can’t really go wrong with Dunks out here, especially this year,” he said. “So I’m going to go on and say that the ‘Maui Wowie’ is for sure ‘wowie’ for your bank account.”
