Initiative will expand access to mental healthcare through the ease and convenience of virtual care

BOSTON, December 09, 2021--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Amwell® (NYSE: AMWL), a national telehealth leader, today announced the launch of "Mind Your Mind" a new mental health initiative designed to raise awareness for mental health issues and help people receive care via a licensed therapist or psychologist through the award-winning Amwell mobile app or desktop experience, at a low cost. As part of this initiative, Amwell is partnering with actress, singer, and mental health advocate Ashley Tisdale and additional social influencers to offer a limited-time promotion ($10 first visit) to people who use the exclusive coupon codes including ASHLEY10 from Dec. 2021 through Feb. 2022.

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the demand for mental health services has greatly increased due to the pandemic, yet many people across the country are still unable to get access to reliable mental health services, especially those in less advantaged communities. This need is expected to worsen over the holiday season and beyond. NAMI reports 64 percent of people with an existing mental illness say that the holidays make their condition worse. This is where virtual visits with board-certified, licensed therapists and psychologists can play a huge role.

"I’ve been very open about my mental health journey," said Ashley Tisdale, actress and singer. "For me, talking about what I’m going through is one way I can deal with how I’m feeling and make stress or anxiety more manageable, which is why I’m excited to be partnering with Amwell. For those who haven’t yet found the right therapist or may be having a hard time building in-office therapy into their schedules, Amwell’s online therapy visits could be a game-changer. It’s amazing the difference even a single visit can have for people who need care, so I’m happy to help spread the word."

With the Amwell website or mobile app, users can see a licensed mental health professional for their behavioral health needs, from the privacy and comfort of home. The online therapy services offered on Amwell’s platform are available nationwide and include a vast network of psychologists, social workers, and other providers in other mental health disciplines to ensure each patient can receive care from a mental health professional who fits their unique needs. Each therapist is licensed to practice in their state and trained in prevention and treatment techniques via telehealth.

"We are in the midst of a behavioral and mental health crisis with anxiety, isolation and emotional fatigue deepening and spanning all ages, races and socioeconomic levels," said Dr. Lindsay Henderson, Psychologist and Director of Psychological Services at Amwell. "The COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated our mental health epidemic and coupled with the winter months, which have a tendency to bring about common issues ranging from loneliness to seasonal affective disorder (SAD), it’s more important than ever that we prioritize our mental health. Amwell’s virtual therapy services are a great option for patients looking to speak to a provider quickly, conveniently and at a low cost."
