Yahoo Finance AMD's Latest Ryzen Embedded SoC Witnesses Rapid Adoption
Advanced Micro Devices AMD unveiled Ryzen Embedded R1000 SoC at Taiwan Embedded Forum. The products offer high performance required in high-quality graphics and complex edge computing processes.
The introduction of the latest SoCs holds promise, given the evolving demand for embedded graphics. In fact, per Grand View Research data, embedded system market is projected to hit $200 billion by 2020, on the growing clout of smart devices, robotics and other emerging technologies.
We believe that the new product enhances the company’s competitive position against peers like Intel INTC and NVIDIA NVDA.
AMD’s Ryzen Embedded R1000 products are already witnessing traction from gaming and networking companies. Notably, Atari, Axiomtech, Alphainfo, Advantech, iBASE, ASRock Industrial, Kontron, Quixant, zSpace, Sapphire and Netronome among others selected embedded SoCs.
The increasing adoption of the latest products, which are slated to be “available this quarter,” favors the company’s top-line growth.
Coming to price performance, AMD stock has surged 170.9% in the past year against industry’s rally of 23%.
Features and Benefits
The Embedded R1000 family of SoCs includes R1606G and R1505G.The products feature four threads and two CPU cores based on the company’s “Zen” architecture. Additionally, Embedded R1000 family supports Mentor Embedded Linux Flex operating system.
The solutions are compliant to Ryzen Embedded V1000 series and come with TDP ranging from 12W to 25W. Notably, it is a marked improvement over Ryzen Embedded V1807B and V1756B of V1000 series requiring 35-54W.
The SoCs utilize “Secure Root of Trust and Secure Run Technology” to provide enhanced edge security.
Further, the latest SoCs allow designers to access the company’s Vega GPU architecture.This is expected to enable users to run 4K displays efficiently, enhancing system performance.

Growing proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) techniques and machine learning (ML) tools in industries like gaming, networking, and cloud and edge computing are primarily driving the demand for embedded SoC.
Per ResearchAndMarkets data, the global SoC market is expected to witness a CAGR of 11.3% from 2018 to 2024.
Increasing allegiance to video streaming services and demand for immersive experience in graphics also deserve a special mention in this regard.
