It's been two years since the last Met Gala so expectations were high for this year's proceedings, and the glitzy event did not disappoint. From Kim Kardashian's outfit and the memes that came with it, to Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez's mask kiss, it was an all-round spectacle (good and bad). But according to co-host Keke Palmer's shady Instagram post the food at the event was decidedly lacking. Well, the Met Gala's official head chef just responded to her criticism and it's getting a bit awkward...
As we all know the Met Gala is notoriously exclusive. A ticket will set you back between $30,000 to $50,000 and a number of celebrities are rumoured to have been banned from the event over the years, usually for criticising it in some way.
With this in mind, during the event co-host Keke responded to a fan who tweeted her asking about the menu. The Nickelodeon star responded with a fairly exposing picture along with a caption that read, "This why they don’t show y’all the food I’m just playinnnn."

Obviously, Twitter instantly erupted with people whipping out their best comedy in response to the slightly disappointing looking plate. However, the Met Gala's official head chef, Marcus Samuelsson, has since waded into the drama, defending the food and explaining just why Keke's plate looked... the way it did.
Samuelsson told TMZ, "For starters, yes, Keke's picture is in fact some of what was served... It was barley topped with roasted mushrooms, tomato salad with corn and zucchini slices. Food, like anything, is a matter of taste, and it tasted plenty good."
He added the "3-course meal was delicious, and the feedback... has been incredible."
Either way, all this chat is making us hungry. Anyone else?
