9-1-1 season 5 midseason finale spoilers follow.

9-1-1 has left fans on a big cliffhanger after one character suggested they would be saying goodbye to the 118.

In last night's (December 6) episode ,'Wrapped in Red', Edmundo 'Eddie' Diaz (Ryan Guzman) faced a bit of a dilemma after son Christopher worried it could be his dad's last Christmas.

As such, the firefighter feared he was putting his son through pain as he reflected on the realities of his job, and ultimately made a huge decision.

"I think I have to make a change. I'm leaving the 118," he declared.

However, whether Eddie will really decide to hang it all up remains to to be seen, and fans will have to wait a few months for the show's return to find out.

Eddie's (possible) exit comes after the departure of Michael Grant (Rockmond Dunbar), who left in emotional scenes last month.

In his final episode, Michael prepared to propose to neurosurgeon boyfriend David Hale (La Monde Byrd) – though his plan was interrupted by an explosion at the hospital, with the latter staying behind to finish operating on a patient.

After being pushed to leave by Bobby Nash (Peter Krause), who revealed Michael was waiting to propose outside, David finished up and the two got engaged.

Michael later revealed he would be joining his fiancée in Haiti, David heading there for a few months to work with a hurricane relief team, and suggested they may stay longer than planned.

"I can't save lives, but I can help rebuild one," he said, as fans were shown a series of flashbacks before his ex-wife Athena (Angela Bassett) said: "We will always be family."

9-1-1 airs on FOX in the US and Sky Witness in the UK.
