8 Generous Sign Up Bonuses That Make Us Want to Sign Up For These Credit Cards Right Now

In the right hands, credit cards can be a source of tons of freebies. I especially love cash back credit cards since you get back a bit of the money you spend, and who doesn’t love money, amiright?

If you’re an auntie, however, the thing that really pushes you to apply for a new card could be the sign up bonus of a free suitcase. To each his own.

Here are some of the best credit card sign up bonuses the banks are dangling right now… even if you don’t end up using the card, there’s no harm collecting these goodies.

Cashback

ANZ Optimum World MasterCard

From 11 to 17 July, those who sign up for this card receive $100 cash rebate as well as an OTO spinal support massager worth $268.

Here’s what you should do: keep the $100 cash rebate and then give the spinal support massager to your mum/grandmother/auntie. Everyone’s happy.

The rebates will be offered to you using Optimum$ under the Optimum Rebate Programme. Redemptions of Optimum$ is in blocks of $50, which is fine because you’re getting a flat $100 rebate.

The promotional period is very limited, but ANZ did give away another OTO massager last week, so there’s a chance they’ll still have a similar sign up promotion next week. If you are interested in the ANZ Optimum World Mastercard, click to apply here.

Standard Chartered Manhattan World MasterCard

Stanchart offers one of the most generous sign up bonuses out there–$138 of credit the minute you receive your credit card. Sweet!

Note that you have to be a first-time Stanchart credit card applicant. If you already have an existing credit card or previously cancelled a Stanchart card, you receive just $20 cashback for a maximum of two eligible cards. Boo hoo!

The offer is valid till 30 September 2016. If you are interested in the Standard Chartered Manhattan World MasterCard, click to apply here.

Citi Cash Back Card

Until 31 December 2016, apply for a Citi Cash Back Card and receive $120. This is only valid for new Citibank cardmembers, so if you already have a Citibank credit card, tough luck.

If you used to have a Citibank credit card but cancelled it, you are eligible if the termination of your card happened more than 12 months ago.

Of course, there’s a catch. The $120 cashback will be given to you in tranches of $20 per month for 6 months, which means you can’t just spend that free credit tomorrow and then cancel the card.

Again, this offer is valid till 31 December 2016. If you are interested in the Citi Cash Back Card, click to apply here.

Air miles

Citibank PremierMiles Visa Card

This card offers one of the more generous freebies out there. You get up to 42,000 Citi Miles when you apply and manage to spend the requisite amount.

Here’s how it works: So long as you use your card within the first 3 months, you get 15,000 miles. If you manage to spend $10,000 within the first 3 months, you get an additional 15,000 miles. If this $10,000 was spent locally, you get an additional 12,000 miles, since you’re supposed to get 1.2 miles per S$1 anyway.

If you’re an existing Citibank card holder, you’ll have to pay the annual fee of $192.60, otherwise the fee gets waived for a year.

The offer is valid till 14 August 2016. If you are interested in the Citibank PremierMiles Visa Card, click to apply here.

American Express Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Credit Card

If you’re a KrisFlyer member, it’s a good idea to sign up for this card, since you get a bonus of 5,000 KrisFlyer miles the minute you make your first transaction with the card.

If you spend $700 in the first 6 months upon card approval, you receive an additional 3,000 Krisflyer miles.

Standard Chartered Visa Infinite Credit Card

Choose between receiving 35,000 miles OR 25,000 miles + $100 Uber credits when you apply for this card. Now that’s a hell of a lot of miles.

The catch is that you have to pay the annual fee of $588.50. This might sound hefty, but when you consider that 35,000 KrisFlyer miles can get you a one way ticket to Europe or the West Coast of the USA, or a return ticket to Beijing and Shanghai on Singapore Airlines, it doesn’t sound that bad of a deal.

The offer is valid till 31 December 2016. If you are interested in the Standard Chartered Visa Infinite Card, click to apply here.

Freebies

Citibank Rewards Card

Online shopping addicts should already be familiar with Lazada, where you can buy anything from Ray Bans to air purifiers. Sign up for the Citibank Rewards Card and receive a $80 Lazada e-voucher.

The only rule is that you need to spend at least $100 within 30 days of your card approval date.

The promotion ends on 31 July 2016. If you are interested in the Citibank Rewards Card, click to apply here.

Here’s the announcement aunties all over Singapore have been waiting for—sign up for the HSBC Visa Platinum Credit Card or HSBC’s Revolution Card and you receive a Samsonite Black Label Richmond Spinner 75cm luggage worth $950. You must spend $1,000 within the first month to qualify.

Alternatively, you can opt to receive HSBC’s All Days Movie Card worth $85 instead of the luggage. To qualify for this, you only need to spend $100 in the first month. This card basically gives you 10 movie credits you can redeem every day of the year except X’mas, New Year’s Day and the 1st and 2nd days of CNY.

If you apply for a supplementary card at the same time as your main card application, you also receive 4 Golden Village movie passes if the supplementary card is used at least once within the first month.

The above offers are valid till 31 August 2016. If you’re interested in the HSBC Visa Platinum Card, click to apply here. If you’re interested in HSBC’s Revolution Card instead, click to apply here.
