This article was originally on GET.com at: 6 Reasons Your Mom Is The Strongest Woman You'll Ever Know

Whether you’re Singaporean or not, your mother is likely the strongest woman you'll ever know. All parents love their child and will always see their sons and daughters as a kid in their eyes (and hearts) regardless of whether they’re in their 20s, 30s, or 40s. For those who are very blessed to have a fulfilling and loving parent-child relationship with your parents like I do, I genuinely am happy for you. For those of you who have become estranged from your parent(s), try to be more understanding and do your best to fix things up as soon as possible. Time waits for no one, right?

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, we at GET.com would like to show some appreciation for our moms and, hopefully, inspire you to take some time out of your busy schedules to show some love and gratitude to your momma. If you'd to pamper her this Mother's Day, check out these amazing dining and wellness deals that we've sussed out for you. Here are 6 reasons why your mom is the strongest woman you’ll know. 6 Reasons Your Mom Is The Strongest Woman You'll Ever Know

1. She Teaches You The True Meaning Of Unconditional Love

I’m sure you’ve witnessed the times your mother took extra care of you when you were unwell despite being so fatigued juggling house chores and work, times she was so worried about you not returning home at night that she couldn’t sleep, the times she cried with you when you got your heart broken, the times she encouraged you to never give up just because you failed an important test and so on.

Your mother never complained about her grievances taking care of you and your family. She’s selfless the way she is and she shows you how unconditional love ought to be.

2. She Shows You The Power Of Empathy

Moms love their children wholeheartedly, fiercely even. Your mom protects you to her best ability, shields you from evil influences as best as she can all while emphasizing the importance of always being kind and nice.

Did you ever wonder why your mom asks about your closest friends from time to time? That maternal instinct in her naturally extends to those in your life whom she knows you care for and love.

Of course, there are times when toxic people who try to bring us down don’t deserve any bit of our kindness or niceness but for the most part, we keep our conscience clear and empathize with everyone around us whether it be the blind uncle pedaling tissue, the kid who got lost in the mall, the grandma who had to cross the 4-lane road, or the needy and less privileged.

3. She Emanates Positivity Even Through Dark Times

She may have had a bad day at work or a disagreement with your dad, but she never ever vents on you just because. She may be upset but all she needs is a listening ear, a hug or a warm squeeze of her hand. She tells you she’s fine even when she’s not really feeling ok just yet, she smiles at you despite all that she’s been through and she tells you things are going to be okay in no time.

Your mom just keeps going and she teaches you to always try again and again, to keep going no matter how often you find yourself tangled up in trying times and obstacles. She teaches you how to create your own happiness. When you succeed, the result will be rewarding and sweet, no questions asked.

4. She Reassures You That You Can Be Soft & Strong

You may be super sensitive (hi, friend) and cry at the slightest thing when your emotions are stirred, but your mom tells you it’s okay to cry but make sure you bounce back stronger, better. She’s sensitive, probably more sensitive than you can imagine, but she hides it from you.

Each time you cry your heart out, her heart aches more than you can possibly fathom. That is why she hugs you so tenderly with compassion just to make you feel better. Before she lets you wriggle out of her arms, she tells you everything’s going to be okay, that she loves you more than anything in the entire universe and she tells you to always love yourself.

5. She Reminds You To Always Be Honest And Sincere

She tells you countless times that lies are bad, and that applies to white lies, too. And that being honest and sincere in both actions and words matter, regardless of who you are dealing with. She encourages you to speak your mind and she listens to your opinions no matter how unbelievable they may be. She’s forthright and honest and teaches you to be like that, too. She’s never been a fan of passive-aggressiveness; no means no, yes means yes.

6. She Instils In You The Importance Of Being Financially Independent

She shows you how crucial it is to be prudent when spending and diligent when saving. She tells you to spend wisely, work hard and smart, and manage your finances.

Way back when you were still skipping to school with cartoon backpacks, she dropped subtle reminders to you to urge you to put whatever loose change you had in your piggy bank because she wanted you to get in the habit of saving money from a tender age.

That was the reason why she gave you $1 or $2 daily and refused to give in to you when you bawled your eyes out at the toy store demanding to buy the latest toys at that time.

Are You Already A Parent?

It’s probably very fulfilling to be a parent but we all know that the costs of having a baby are high and that it's very expensive it is to raise a child here in Singapore, don’t we? Foremost, here are 6 things new parents waste money on in Singapore.
