1.The White Rabbit

Beyond the glitz and glam of Dempsey Hill, there is a space of serenity and chill that's pretty out of this world. Inspired by the fairy tale 'Alice In Wonderland', The White Rabbit and its selection of craft gin gives off some vintage European vibes that really takes you out of Singapore. Even the interior of the restaurant remains as enchanting as when it was used as a chapel in the 1930s.

2. Bollywood Veggies / Poison Ivy Bistro

Tucked away from the concrete jungle of Singapore's CBD, is Bollywood Veggies - one of the few local farms in Singapore. With fresh produce at their disposal, Poison Ivy has become the go-to place for people who are looking for a farm-to-table experience. Over the years, as the farm grew to sprout more different types of edible plantations, they have come to be experts on one particular fruit - bananas.

Even though they're not open till late, you can still take a drive down from work and have lunch there, or even check it out on a weekend. Make sure you try their to-die-for banana cake while you breathe in the fresh scent of nature's luscious greenery.

The thing that makes Whisk And Paddle feel like you're out of Singapore, is the view that overlooks its veranda. It's easier to play pretend like you're out of Singapore and the view of the river and the greenery helps make this real. Since they pride themselves on their coffee, the next time you're up for a villa-esque escape, put some sunglasses on and chill out at their veranda with a brew in hand.

The details of OverEasy's interior can only be described as straight up American. Complete with checkered flooring, ketchup and mustard bottles, and seating booths, OverEasy is your one-way ticket to a classic American diner.

Of course they don't just look the part; they've also got some of the best burgers, mac and cheese, and American inspired cocktails in town. If you've been to the US (or not), OverEasy is as close as it gets to the US of A.

Iconic brick walls, amber lighting, red PVC-covered seats and an overall rustic feel that never escaped Singapore's pre-war days. The European feels in Spathe hit you the moment you enter the shop. Open Farm Community looks like one of those cafes that you come across in the middle of a road-trip in Australia. Surrounded by herb gardens and vegetable patches, it's quite a surreal experience to be dining out in the open and know where your food comes from.

This whole concept of urban farming has really changed everything we know about cafes and restaurants for the better. Take a drive down to Minden Road and check out this cafe when you feel like being somewhere remote.
