5 Exciting Outdoor Activity Groups In Singapore

This article was originally on GET.com at: 5 Exciting Outdoor Activity Groups In Singapore

Organising outdoor activity sessions can feel like a past time (I blame it on the weather) especially in today's all-work-and-no-play society. But let's face it, most of us are living in a routine. More often than not, all of the hangout activities we do are confined indoors with the comfort of air-con. I don't know about you, but sitting indoors for too long gets to me and I start to itch to get out and do something.

GET.com has discovered 5 Fun Outdoor Activity Groups In Singapore that you can be a part of, whether you want to meet new people or explore new activities, all without having to think to much about it.

1. Ministry Of Adventure

The people at Ministry of Adventure live by three words - passion, courage and fun. They organise hiking or trekking meetups to abandoned places like Istana Woodweuk for example, or even cycling trips around Pulau Ubin or Chek Jawa.

Yes, it may sound a little intimidating if you're not at all an outdoorsy person, but they organise indoor events to warm you up to it. If you're willing to reach into your wallet, they organise mountain climbing expeditions, or kayaking expeditions within Singapore and overseas as well.

2. Running Department

Being a part of this community comes with the benefits of getting fit, that's a plus for me. The Running Department is formed by runners who are passionate about getting the community involved. With a run-together and train-together mentality, it's a nurturing environment to be in if you're new to running. If you've been a long time runner, then Running Department can be your new family that you train with to prepare for that 42km marathon.

3. Urban Sketchers Singapore

If you're a little more creatively inclined, Urban Sketchers Singapore organises meetups all around Singapore. It can be anywhere, from a random HDB block to the Botanic Gardens. All you have to do is turn up and start sketching. The classic pencil or charcoal is just a guide. Some people who attend these meetups sometimes bring their own colouring sets like coloured pencils, watercolours and paint. You just do what you're comfortable with.

4. Meetup

This online social networking portal allows you to connect with like-minded people and meet up in real life! Say you have a weekend afternoon free, and you just feel like meeting new people and talking to them about things that you love, whether you're into books, music, dancing, movies or sports, all you have to do is either find a group or set up a group according to your interest and then meet up. Pretty cool if you ask me.

5. 10,000 Miles

Okay, so maybe this one isn't exactly free and for the most part you're not going to be in Singapore, but signing up to their newsletter won't hurt! 10,000 Miles was set up by two ladies who caught a serious case of the travel bug. What they hope to achieve with 10,000 Miles is to explore the road less travelled with other like-minded wanderers.

Their vast experience after travelling so often ensures that you are in good hands, plus the travel destinations the ladies plan for are exotic, you'll probably end up going for the trip of your lifetime! So what's in it for you if you join them on their adventures? Most of the planning for your trip is pretty much done, all that's left to do is pack and get going!

But hey, at the end of the day, if you're not really into travelling and you prefer to be sitting in a movie theatre with a bucket of popcorn on your lap, then check out this article that tells you more about the 2 Best Credit Cards For Movies In Singapore.
