3 Sunniest Countries On The Planet

This article was originally on GET.com at: 3 Sunniest Countries On The Planet

Singapore may be sunny and hot all year round, but it isn't the sunniest country in the whole wide world despite its geographical location that puts it so near to the equator. The amount of sunshine that Singapore gets cannot be compared with the extreme doses that some other places around the world receive, at least according to what the World Data Center for Meteorology has recorded.

Here, we at GET.com will show you the 3 countries in the world with the most sunshine.

3 Sunniest Countries On The Planet

1. United States

You may want to hydrate yourself ever so frequently if you are ever going to be in the southwest states of Arizona, Nevada and Texas within the United States. In particular, Yuma, Arizona has an average of 4,015 hours of sunshine each year. Nestled close to the wildlife refuge and Kofa Mountain Range, this place is the sunniest city in the world. A typical day in July can see temperatures soaring up to a sweltering 42°C.

2. Egypt

Although we can all agree that Egypt is one of the historical destinations that will make us time travel, I am not sure how many of us would want to experience modern-day Egypt if aircons didn't exist. After all, its subtropical desert climate isn't one that we are used to.

Zooming in on the sunniest destination within Egypt, we have the bustling market city of Aswan that is located in the southern part of Egypt, north of the Aswan Dams on the east bank of the Nile River.

Touristic Aswan has, on average, 3,863 hours of sunshine annually while Kharga receives 3,791 hours of sun on average each year. By the way, if you're thinking of trotting there, know that Singaporeans need a visa to enter the country.

3. Sudan

If we all can complain about the thunderstorms and scorching hot days that we have here in Singapore, I think we'll complain even more in Dongola, one of the driest, hottest, and sunniest places on Earth. This city that's located on the banks of the Nile River has a hot desert climate after all, so don't expect the sun to go hiding should you happen to be there.

Dongola experiences sunshine for 3,814 hours a year on average, with temperatures reaching around 43°C in the month of June. Abu Hamed, also in Sudan, sees around 3,763 hours of sunshine per year.
